Expect the patient to experience fatigue. Fatigue is a common side effect of biotherapy. It is suggested that biotherapy patients prepare to have help around the house and get adequate rest.

Look out for flu-like Symptoms. Although biotherapy does not attack healthy cells, it can result in flu-like symptoms, including muscle aches, fever and chills. Symptoms of vague, general illness have also been reported.

Take note of any nausea. Nausea is a very unpleasant side effect of biotherapy. Anti-nausea medication may be prescribed or the urge to vomit may be controlled by consuming small amounts of food frequently.

Be on guard for the "Capillary Leak Syndrome." This is a serious side effect of biotherapy, which is characterized by a weakening of the walls of capillaries (tiny veins) by some medications. This can result in leaks of blood, which cause severe loss of appetite, tissue swelling, nerve damage and difficulty breathing.
