TB Medicine Side Effects
TB medicine, also known as Capastat, is used in the treatment of infections of the lungs caused by certain types of tuberculosis. The drug works by killing or preventing the growth of organisms in the lungs that cause symptoms related to the disease. As with most infection medications, a number of side effects can occur as a result of using this drug.-
Common Side Effects
-
As mentioned, certain side effects are associated with using tuberculosis medication. Some of these side effects include skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightening of the chest, swelling of the mouth and lips, and redness and swelling at the injection site. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with this medication, they only affect a small number of users.
Severe Side Effects
-
Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects associated with using tuberculosis medication. Some of these side effects include decreased hearing and/or hearing loss, chills, fever, decreased urination, sore throat, ringing of the ears, confusion, irregular heartbeat, sudden mood changes, cramping, muscle pain, bleeding at the injection site, and loss of coordination. These side effects are also very rare and do not affect a large amount of users.
Important Safety Information
-
Tuberculosis medication works only against bacterial infections and does not fight viral infections of the lungs. Always use this medication for the full course of treatment (even if symptoms become nonexistent) to ensure that the infection has cleared your body. Use with extreme caution in adults over the age of 65 and in children under the age of 12 as they are more susceptible to their side effects.

Tuberculosis medication is administered in injection form and should always be performed by a doctor or nurse in a professional medical setting.
