Alternative Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer
-
Traditional Treatments
-
Obviously, the first course of treatment should involve conventional methods. Removing the cancerous cells from the pancreas, according to the Mayo Clinic, has been found lacking in its success because most of the time all the cancer cannot be resected. Removing either the top or bottom portions of the pancreas are two of the most common ways of doing this. Radiation therapy can also be used to target the cancerous cells and kill them before they can spread to other areas of the body. Baring conventional treatment, you can also pursue other, alternative forms of treatment, but these should be used as complements to traditional measures.
Kelly-Gonzalez Regimen
-
The Kelly-Gonzalez regimen is currently in clinical trials for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The treatment involves a mixture of nutritional support in the form of a regimented diet, vitamin supplements, pancreatic enzymes and, believe it or not, coffee enemas. The testing is being performed at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
Burzinski Regimen
-
The Burzinski regimen are also in clinical trial at the Burzinski Research Institute in Houston, Texas. The treatment relies on the taking of antineoplastons through oral administration. Antineoplastons are chemical compounds found in urine and blood. There is no clinical proof that the therapy works and no clinic studies on the effectiveness of antineoplastons. There is, however some rather serious side effects to the central nervous system such as seizures and swelling of the brain.
