Fibromyalgia sufferers can take prescription medications such as Savella, Cymbalta and Lyrica to treat pain symptoms. In some cases, pain may also be treated with antidepressants, narcotics or benzodiazepines. Also, lidocaine may be injected into tender points to relieve pain. Medications to aid with sleep may also be needed.
Exercise

Pain may also be treated with regular stretching and exercising. It is most beneficial if exercise is done daily.
Sleep

Fibromyalgia should have a regular sleep routine to help improve symptoms. A good sleep routine should include going to bed and getting up at the same time each day. Also, it is helpful to avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugar before bedtime.
