Herbal Recipes to Relieve Pain & Promote Healing
Herbs have been used for centuries to relieve the pain of various ailments while simultaneously healing the underlying causes of illnesses and diseases. While herbal remedies are generally safe and have no harmful side effects, it is always wise to consult a doctor before using any herbal recipe to relieve pain and promote healing.-
General Digestive Cleanse

This general digestive cleanse recipe will alleviate after-meal bloating and burping and constipation and will aid in digestion, elimination and blood purification.
Gather one part fennel seed, prickly ash bark, gentian root, psyllium seed and husks, dandelion root and gingko leaves with one-half part ginger root. Remove all lower leaves of each herb. Bundle all of the herbs together and secure with a rubber band or string. Place the bundle upside down into a brown paper bag. Hang the bag in a well-ventilated, dark and warm area for approximately two to four weeks. Using a mortar and pestle, crush and powder the herbs. Place powdered herb mixture into cellulose capsules. Take two capsules before every meal.
Shoulder and Leg Rub

This recipe will alleviate aching legs and shoulders and is also great for dry or itchy skin.
Combine one ounce of sesame or sweet almond oil with one ounce of oil of camphor. Mix thoroughly and store in an airtight bottle.
Fever Reducer

Spread a finely grated apple over a ½-inch thick and 6-inch long, double-layered cheesecloth piece. Apply to forehead. Construct similar poultices for the throat and chest. Apply and let sit for one hour.
Healing Hand Lotion

Combine one part glycerin, one part liquid camphor and one part bay rum. Combine thoroughly and apply to hands as needed.
Hot Ginger Lemonade

This is a herbal remedy for colds and flu.
Bring 1 ½ cup water to a boil. Bruise three ¼-inch slices of fresh ginger root with a knife to break up its pulp. Add the ginger to the boiling water and let simmer uncovered for five minutes. Squeeze ½ cup lemon juice, one teaspoon honey and ¼ teaspoon powdered cayenne pepper into your drinking cup. Add the ginger tea to the cup. Stir and drink slowly while still hot. One ounce of brandy may be added to the mixture before bedtime to help you sleep.
