How to Prevent Hodgkin's Lymphoma From Reoccurring

Medical science still offers no fool-proof way to prevent Hodgkin's lymphoma from reoccurring, or recurring. Lymph cells circulate through the body, coming into constant contact with each other. Therefore, preventing any lymphoma from recurring can be difficult, though certainly not impossible. However, many lymphoma patients who haven't experienced a relapse follow prevention methods based on a healthy diet, clean lifestyle and regular exercise. Hodgkin's lymphoma affects the immune system, so you should take extra precautions in trying to prevent a recurrence.

Instructions

    • 1

Eat a healthful diet filled with antioxidants to boost your immune system. Strengthening your body's immune system plays a hugely important part in maintainting your health, especially because you want to prevent contracting mononucleosis ("mono"), which has been shown to increase the risk of Hodgkin's lymphoma.

    • 2

Don't smoke, and drink only in moderation. Both of these activities can compromise your immune system, making it harder for your body to fight off a possible relapse of the disease.

    • 3

Wash your hands regularly with warm water for at least 15 seconds. Keeping your hands germ-free reduces your risk of contracting mononucleosis.

    • 4

Exercise for at least 20 minutes, at least 4 days a week. Even walking for 30 minutes helps charge your immune system, and makes you less prone to infectious diseases.

    • 5

See your doctor for a physical examination at least once a year. Say that you're concerned about your Hodgkin's lymphoma reoccurring. The doctor will feel your lymph nodes for swelling and perform other exams.
