Adrenal Exhaustion Treatment & Recovery

Adrenal fatigue, also known as adrenal exhaustion, is not an accepted diagnosis in traditional medicine. It is collectively composed of a group of symptoms, including fatigue, non-refreshing sleep, digestive difficulties, muscle aches, concentration difficulties, and low stamina, among other symptoms. Adrenal fatigue can best be defined as a dysfunction of the adrenal gland that results in a mild insufficiency of adrenal hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It can take a long time to recover from adrenal fatigue, and recovery requires healthy lifestyle changes, such as getting plenty of rest and avoiding stress.
  1. Food to Avoid

    • Avoid coffee, sugar, refined or processed foods (junk food), alcohol and tobacco.

    Exercise

    • Include mild exercises into your daily routine, such as yoga, walking, meditation and deep breathing.

    Nutrition

    • Eat plenty of protein and complex carbohydrates. Include lots of fresh produce in your daily diet.

    Supplements

    • You may also take B complex vitamins, adrenal cortisol extracts, DHEA, pantothenic acid, pregnenolone, L-Theanine and vitamin C.

    Finding a Doctor

    • Be your own advocate. If your current doctor dismisses your symptoms of adrenal fatigue, find one who will help you design a recovery plan. You can also try a nutritionist or an herbalist to complement the traditional approach.
