Make sure you're getting enough water. Coffee, sodas, and teas do NOT take the place of water. Gatorade is good, but it still doesn't provide the same benefits as water.

    • 2

Limit your use of antacids. Some contain aluminum salts and can increase the occurrence of constipation.

    • 3

Ask your physician about lactobacillus acidophilus. L. acidoophilus is the good bacteria that keeps you regular. It can be used by all ages and can be taken daily. I have found that capsules are the best way to take it.

Try a juice fast. Drink juices for 2 to 3 days. This will work to flush out the sludge and residue that gets lodged in the colon.

    • 5

There are also products on the market that cleanse the colon. They are used to flush out toxins and remove unwanted bacteria. Find one that appeals to you and follow the directions closely.

Add lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. Buy a juicer. Be creative!
