What is the disease caused by protist plasmodium?
The disease caused by protist plasmodium is malaria. Malaria is a vector-borne infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. It is transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes. When an infected mosquito bites a human, the parasites enter the bloodstream and travel to the liver. Inside the liver, the parasites multiply and mature, then infect red blood cells. Inside red blood cells, the parasites multiply again, causing the symptoms of malaria: fever, chills, sweats, and anemia.
