Which condition is commonly known as the Lou disease?

The condition commonly known as the Lou disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. It causes progressive muscle weakness and atrophy, leading to paralysis and eventually death. The disease was first described by the French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot in 1869, and it was later named after the American baseball player Lou Gehrig, who was diagnosed with ALS in 1939. ALS is also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or Charcot's disease.
