Is shingles caused by having had measels?

Shingles is not caused by having measles, but both are caused by a type of virus called herpes zoster. In the case of shingles, shingles are the result of the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox. If a person has had chickenpox in the past, they may develop shingles later in life due to reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. Measles, on the other hand, is caused by the measles virus. While both shingles and measles are viral infections, they are not directly linked to each other.
