What does dysentary effect?
Dysentery affects the large intestine, or colon, causing severe diarrhoea with blood and mucus. It is characterised by inflammation and ulceration of the colon and rectum, leading to frequent loose stools containing blood, mucus, and sometimes pus. If left untreated, dysentery can cause severe dehydration, malnutrition, and even death.
