What are the preventive measures against diseases?
1. Hygiene
* Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, coughing, or sneezing, and, of course, before and after preparing or eating food.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
* Disinfect surfaces that are often touched, such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops.
* Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue away.
2. Vaccinations
* Make sure you are up to date on all of your vaccinations, such as the flu shot and the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine.
* Ask your doctor about other vaccinations that may be recommended for you, such as the shingles vaccine or the pneumonia vaccine.
3. Safe Sex
* Use condoms during sex to protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
* Get tested for STIs regularly, especially if you have multiple sexual partners.
4. Avoid Contact with Sick People
* Avoid contact with people who are sick, especially if you have a weakened immune system.
* If you are sick, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading your illness to others.
5. Eat a Healthy Diet
* Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
* Choose lean protein sources, such as fish, chicken, and beans.
* Limit unhealthy fats, such as saturated and trans fats.
* Add more fiber to your diet by eating whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
6. Exercise Regularly
* Get at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
* Exercise can help to boost your immune system and make you less likely to get sick.
7. Get Enough Sleep
* Adults need around 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
* Children need even more sleep, around 10-12 hours per night.
* When you are sleep-deprived, your immune system is less able to fight off infection.
8. Manage Stress
* Chronic stress can weaken your immune system and make you more likely to get sick.
* Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, yoga, or meditation.
9. Take Care of Your Mental Health
* Mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, can also weaken your immune system.
* If you are struggling with mental health problems, talk to a therapist or counselor.
