Consult with your doctor. Your physician can run blood tests to check the function levels of your liver. These tests can determine if the yellowing is caused by liver problems. The doctor may also recommend performing an ultrasound on the bile ducts and liver to look for tumors, which can impair liver function and possibly cause jaundice.

Comply with any treatments your doctor may prescribe to resolve your jaundice. Recommended treatments may include surgery to remove the tumors or taking medication to attempt to heal the liver. Recommended treatments depend upon the severity of the liver problem and the cause. Once the jaundice is relieved, the yellowing should disappear.

Take home remedies, upon your doctor's approval. One home remedy to try is made by adding eight to 10 lemon leaves to a cup of hot water. Place a saucer on the cup and let the leaves steep in the water for about five minutes. Strain the leaves from the water and drink the liquid once daily for four to five days. You could also mash a banana with a tablespoon of honey and consume this concoction two times a day. Lastly, squeeze half of a lemon in four ounces of beetroot juice and drink the liquid daily. If the remedies cure the jaundice, the eyes should return to their natural color.
