Weight Gain & Abdominal Pain Symptoms

    Medical Conditions

    • Medical conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver, abdominal cysts, depression, pancreatic tumor, heart failure, kidney stones, ovarian cancer, ovarian cysts, premenstrual syndrome and sleep apnea may cause both weight gain and abdominal pain.

    Diseases

    • Crohn's disease, Cushing's syndrome and type 2 diabetes may all cause weight gain and abdominal pain.

    Other Causes

    • Other possible causes of both weight gain and abdominal pain include a gluten allergy and reactions to medicines such as antidepressants, prednisone or depakote.

    Pregnancy Complications

    • Pregnant women who experience sudden weight gain and abdominal pain may have a condition known as pre-eclamsia or toxemia. This condition is serious and requires immediate medical attention.
