  1. Starting a Drug Rehabilitation Program

    • 1

Search your favorite Internet search engine for drug rehabilitation programs in your area. US Drug Rehab Centers is an online database listing all drug rehabilitation centers by state. This is a great place to start.

    • 2

Call your selected rehabilitation center and ask to speak to a drug counselor.

    • 3

Question your drug counselor on the types of programs this center offers patients. Programs are either in-patient or out-patient. In-patient programs will require you to live at the rehabilitation center for a certain period of time, while participating in therapy, detoxification and other forms of counseling. Out-patient programs allow you to commute to the center to participate in therapy, drug testing, etc.

    • 4

Determine prices and start dates of each program. Most programs are not free, so make sure you have the funds available to pay for your rehabilitation program.

    • 5

Set up an appointment to go in and have a drug evaluation. A counselor will ask you a series of questions and determine what program is best for you. By participating in the drug evaluation you are not agreeing to start any particular program, but only receiving a diagnosis and advice from a counselor.

    • 6

Agree on a program contract and begin your drug rehabilitation program.
