Alcohol poisoning occurs when the body consumes more alcohol than it can safely process. It's often caused by binge drinking (taking five or more drinks in rapid succession) and requires immediate medical attention.

Breathing Difficulties

• Someone suffering from alcohol poisoning may breathe extremely slowly or erratically. His skin may also become blue, or look unnaturally pale.

Vomiting

• Alcohol poisoning may result in vomiting, as the body tries to get the alcohol out of its system.

Hypothermia

• A patient suffering from alcohol poisoning may feel cold to the touch or have an unusually low body temperature.

Confusion

• Alcohol poisoning can affect a patient's mental facilities, resulting in confusion and slowed reaction times.

Seizures and Unconsciousness

• Alcohol poisoning can create seizures in the patient or cause him to lose consciousness. Unconscious patients may choke on their vomit if left unattended.
