1
Verify that the person becomes aggressive and hostile in a short period of time. A person that takes stimulants on regular basis will often turn hostile and aggressive at a moment's notice. While some people are naturally aggressive, usually you will notice the difference even in the most aggressive of people.

2
Check to see if the potential addict has an increased rate of breathing pattern, high blood pressure or a significant rise in heart rate. If a person has an addiction to stimulants, the drug can cause all of these physical symptoms.
-
3
Take note if the person is expereincing a state of hyper-alertness or a significant increase in energy levels. Stimulants, as you would guess, stimulate the user, causing him to be out of control at times. If the person is jumpy and just can't sit still this may be an indicator of a stimulants addiction.
-
4
Confirm that the person has unreasonable feelings of paranoia. When a person has a stimulant addiction, it increases his or her brain activity essentially sending it into overdrive. This increased activity can lead to thoughts of paranoia or persecution by the user. If a person is constantly talking about how everyone is out get them, this could be an indicator of a stimulants addiction.

5
Find out if the person has constant colds, runny nose or nose bleeds. Also, check the pupils of the eyes for dilation. While these two physical symptoms alone are not the sole means to identify stimulants addiction, if you couple these symptoms with others, it can lead to the correct identification of an addiction.
