Elementary age (generally age 7 to 12) is the best time to talk to a child about drugs. However, it may be a topic that you are not quite familiar with or don't know how to bring up.

Be kind, never strict-minded. The first thing to remember when talking to elementary students about anything is that you must present yourself in a very unique way when speaking to them. When you are talking to these students about drugs, make sure you are kind-minded and never strict-minded. If you are kind to these students, they will enjoy hearing you talk and they actually might learn what you are explaining to them as opposed being totally strict with them.

Talk to them on their level. Also when talking to elementary students, it is important to remember that you must (most of the time) get on their level before they start to fully understand you and trust what you have to say. For example, during a lecture about the dangers of drugs you may want to make a circle in the back of the classroom and if they sit on the floor sit in the floor in the middle of the circle with them.

Make your lecture exciting and appealing to them. Keeping their attention is a big plus when it comes to explaining important things to a little crowd. If you don't try to appeal to elementary-aged students, you will probably not get your entire message out or if will not be soaked up by your audience. It is recommended that you try using drawings, entertainment or any other type of appealing gestures in order to fully appeal to your little crowd.
