Types of Processes for an Intervention
Interventions are a technique for giving information and helping people adapt to that information, while changing their behavior to accept a healthier or safer lifestyle. In personal relationships, interventions are a valuable tool to help loved ones overcome dangerous addictions to drugs or alcohol. Interventions can also be used as an invaluable training technique in companies to pass along new information.-
Family Intervention
-
Designed to combat harmful additions with an open and honest family atmosphere, family interventions are performed with a person's close family present, along with an intervention specialist who guides the event. Family interventions can be emotional and even challenging events, as the group works to inform the addicted individual about the effects of their addiction on every member of the family. These interventions are primarily done as a result of a drug or alcohol addiction; however, they can be performed for other addictions as well.
Emergency Intervention
-
Emergency interventions are performed for an individual when his friends and family believe that he may become a danger to them or to himself. Friends and family are both invited to the intervention, as is an intervention specialist. The goal is to inform him about his actions, how they affect each of them and why they believe that his activities are a danger. The goal is to show him that his actions have wider consequences than just how he affects himself.
Teen Intervention
-
Teenagers require a more careful approach, due to their tendency towards rebellion as a response to being approached about sensitive topics like behavior and substance abuse. They tend to see an intervention as a form of aggression. You will need an intervention specialist that is experienced at working with teens.
Workplace Intervention
-
Workplace interventions occur when coworkers of an individual notice and grow concerned about a fellow employee's behavior or addiction patterns. Occurring when individuals do not have family or even close friends outside of their employment who can participate in an intervention, these still require the leadership of a trained professional. Additional attention should be paid to a subject's emotional needs in order to remain supportive without ostracizing the subject of the intervention.
Process Intervention
-
Process intervention is a specific kind of intervention used in a business format to address professional needs such as training, motivation or process changes within a company. The goal is to pass information on to employees, providing them with the tools they need to improve their productivity and adapt to the changing needs of the company.
