The decision to enter an addiction treatment program can be a lifesaving one. Individuals with a drug addiction often need medical treatment, in addition to therapy and ongoing support. The state of Ohio is home to a variety of drug rehabilitation programs, including outpatient treatment and more intensive inpatient treatment. The center is a private organization offering treatment to individuals with chemical dependency and compulsive behavior problems. Services include outpatient and inpatient programs, available at locations throughout Ashtabula County. Patients can receive treatment on an outpatient basis that include initial assessment, group therapy and crisis management. Outpatient programs typically require an 18-week commitment, while the more intensive inpatient residential program lasts between 60 and 120 days, depending on the patient's needs. Lake Area Recovery Center also facilitates a variety of organized meetings for addicts and their loved ones, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Al-Anon.

The Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center is an operation of Cleveland Clinic, ranked as one of the nation's top four hospitals in 2010 by US News and World Report. The northern Ohio clinic offers both inpatient and outpatient programs for individuals with drug or alcohol dependency issues. Inpatient services are conducted in a hospital setting, and include psychiatric and medical evaluation and treatment, 24-hour nursing supervision and group therapy sessions--treatment length varies depending on individual needs. The clinic's outpatient program consists of three meetings a week for six weeks; informal lectures, stress management and group therapy are all a part of outpatient treatment.

First Step Home

First Step Home, located in southwest Ohio, serves women with substance abuse problems. The program's facilities can house up to 10 women, and children are permitted to live on the premises. Services provided include substance abuse counseling in both individual and group settings, mental health assessment and life skills training. Women with children can also receive child care assistance and family therapy. First Step Home also affords residents access to health care and facilitates communication with job training programs. Upon completion of the residential program, the duration of which is determined on an individual basis, clients can stay in First Step Home's transitional housing.
