Substance Abuse Programs in Massachusetts
Substance abuse programs are specialized programs designed to help people overcome addictions to prescription drugs, alcohol and other drugs in which a dependence has been developed. These programs are found at mental health facilities and special treatment centers that generally offer other behavioral services in addition to substance abuse treatment.-
High Point Treatment Center

The High Point Treatment Center offers substance abuse programs at three locations in Massachusetts: Plymouth, New Bedford, and Brockton. HPT has inpatient women and men addiction centers, detoxification units at each facility and service for teens and young adults. HPT also offers outpatient substance abuse services during the day and throughout the evening. Individual, group, medication management and family services are also available. A community support and overdose prevention program gives clients additional support to remain at home during and after treatment and prevent fatal overdoses from opiate use.

STEP Inc

STEP Inc has been offering free addiction services to the Boston area since 1972. Services are offered in Spanish and English, on demand, at no charge. Services offered at STEP include drug addiction programs, violence intervention/prevention, individualized treatment programs, legal advocacy, drug screening, women services and AA counseling. STEP also gives referrals for services such as housing, employment and education. Counseling services offered are for both the individual and family.

Spectrum Health Systems

Spectrum Health Systems is a private, nationwide, non-profit organization that offers substance abuse and mental health services. In Massachusetts, Spectrum offers a variety of substance abuse and mental health programs for men, women and children/youth. The facilities at Spectrum can accommodate outpatient, residential and inpatient treatment. In addition, Spectrum offers in-prison treatment program on behalf of Massachusetts Department of Corrections.
