Christian Rehab Programs

Although Christian rehabilitation centers use traditional methods of helping people overcome addiction to drugs or alcohol, some Christian-based programs also offer additional spiritual help and teachings. Christian rehab programs follow the 12-step philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in their treatments, but where AA simply calls for participants to submit to a higher power, Christian rehab programs teach that the higher power is Jesus Christ.

Its helpline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Eternal Awakenings

    • Located in a historic mansion, Eternal Awakenings helps its clients overcome addiction of drugs or alcohol using Christian-based principles that focus on the mind, body and spirit. Its 30-day residential drug rehab program consists of the Christian 12 steps, small-group counseling and activities, scripture study and prayer, and education in chemical dependency. It also provides counseling for the families of those struggling with addiction.

    • Oak Tree Delray provides clients with secular drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, but specializes in Christian treatment methods. It provides day and evening treatment programs designed to take place in three phases, and it offers inpatient, outpatient and transitional programs. In addition to amenities such as private rooms, Internet access, a pool and Jacuzzi, tennis, racquetball and fishing, the center also offers a one-year aftercare program free of charge to those who've successfully completed a 30-day treatment plan.

    • Taught by Christian counselors, Pacific Hills' in-patient and out-patient rehab programs emphasize building a relationship with God while overcoming addiction to alcohol and drugs such as heroin, cocaine, crack and crystal meth. Participants attend chapel and off-site "Celebrate Recovery" meetings, and they end each day with daily reflections. On Sundays, participants attend local church services.

    • Transformations offers 30- to 90-day substance abuse treatment and/or Christian rehabilitation programs. Its three-prong approach for drug and alcohol abuse includes individual and group therapy sessions, church attendance, pastoral counseling, life skills courses and relapse prevention education.
