Determine how much alcohol you drink on a daily basis. Consider both the number of drinks that you consume and the percentage of alcohol in each drink.

Cut that number in half. Consume only this amount of alcohol for the next four days.

Cut this number in half again, after four days have passed. Consume only this new amount of alcohol for the next four days.

Stop all alcohol consumption after the last four days. You will have gradually quit drinking over the course of eight days.

Attend support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, to receive encouragement from other people. Support can help you to overcome your alcohol addiction.

Stop going to locations such as happy hours, cocktail parties and dance clubs where you will be tempted to drink alcohol. Instead, find new places to spend time. Finding a new routines increases your self-esteem and keeps you from being tempted to drink.
