How to Stop Noises in Your Ears
Ear noises can range from ringing and swishing to popping or other types of noise that appear to originate internally. Often referred to as tinnitus, ear noises can be a nuisance but do not often constitute a serious concern for the afflicted. Many factors can cause ear noises; sinus infections, inner ear damage, fluid buildup and extremely loud noises are among the common culprits. In some cases, noises in the ear can be minimized or altogether cured through one or a combination of easy home remedies and preventative measures.Things You'll Need

Easy Home Treatments
-
1
Gargle with warm salt water. This can relieve pressure in the eustachian tube and minimize or alleviate noises.
-
2
Try sucking on a piece of candy or chewing gum. Similar to a warm salt water gargle, candy and chewing gum are often effective at helping reduce eustachian tube pressure and minimizing noises.
-
3
Take a nasal decongestant. Ear noises are often the result of a sinus infection or cold. A nasal decongestant can speed recovery and reduce noises.
Prevent Further Symptoms
-
4
Avoid taking too much aspirin. Aspirin has been proven to worsen the symptoms of tinnitus, including ear noises.
-
5
Quit smoking. Nicotine is a stimulant and can activate the auditory nerve in the inner ear.
-
6
Reduce your salt consumption. Extra salt can prompt fluid retention in the ear, resulting in pressure against the hearing organs.
-
7
Reduce your caffeine consumption. Also a stimulant, caffeine can aggravate the auditory nerve, similar to nicotine.
-
8
Eliminate excess earwax buildup. Excess earwax can lead to ear noises. The condition can be treated with over-the-counter ear drops from your local drug store.
-
9
Wear earplugs around loud noises. Loud concerts or construction sites can contribute to prolonged ear noises.
