Home Remedy for Ear Pain From a Sinus Infection

An earache caused by a sinus infection can be painful. An easily made home remedy, though, can ease the discomfort.
  1. Garlic Juice

    • Tip your head to the side of the unaffected ear and place two to three drops of garlic juice into the ear that hurts. Use an eyedropper for better accuracy. Leave the drops in for a few minutes, and tilt your head the opposite way to allow the liquid to run out of your ear.

    Warm Onion

    • Soak a piece of cloth in very warm water. Chop an onion and warm the pieces in the microwave for a few seconds. Put several small pieces of the onion in the cloth. Position the warm, onion-filled cloth gently on the affected ear.

    Hydrogen Peroxide

    • Place one to two drops of hydrogen peroxide in the aching ear. Leave the drops in for two to three minutes, and then immediately remove the hydrogen peroxide by tipping your head to allow the fluid to run out.

    Mango Leaves

    • Grind mango leaves in a small food processor. Dump the mash into a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. Allow the water to cool, and place a few drops of this mango extract in the affected ear for a few minutes.

    Warm Olive Oil

    • To soothe an aching ear and clean out any excess wax, place two to three drops of warm olive oil in the ear with an eyedropper. Leave the drops in for a few minutes, and then evacuate the oil and the wax with a bulb syringe full of warm water. It may take several sprays of the syringe to completely remove the excess wax.
