1
Take medication. Take Ibuprofen to reduce pain and swelling. You can also take a nasal decongestant, which can clear up passageways that may be causing your ear pain.

2
Apply a warm washcloth or compress to the affected ear. Heat can not only reduce swelling and pain associated with ear aches, but it can also help loosen up any blockage that may accompany the ache. Leave heat on for 10 to 15 minutes every few hours for pain.

Dry out any excess fluid in your ear by making a mixture of equal parts warm water and hydrogen peroxide. Lie down with your ear facing up and drop in 2 or 3 drops. Wait 10 minutes or until the mix stops bubbling; drain excess mixture into a cup. Do this three times a day to help with ear pressure.

4
Brew a ginger tea using ginger root or powder which you can buy at your local health food store. Drop 2 to 3 drops in the affected ear and lie still for a few minutes. Do this 3 times a day for pain.

Relieve pressure that builds up in the ear by chewing gum and popping your ears. The chewing and swallowing that gum induces can help open up passageways in the ear canal. Popping your ear, done by closing your mouth, plugging your nose and exhaling, can also help open passageways and relieve pressure.
