Pulsatile Tinnitus Symptoms
There are many forms of tinnitus that a person may experience. Some suffer from objective tinnitus, which means that the doctor is able to hear the sounds you hear by using a stethoscope. One type of objective tinnitus is called "pulsatile" or pulsating tinnitus, which is named as such because the sufferer hears sounds that remind them of the pulsating sound of a heartbeat. This type of tinnitus has quite a few symptoms that help you determine if you are indeed suffering from this condition.-
Symptom 1: Pulsating Sounds
-
The most common symptom is a knocking or clicking that mimics a pulse or heartbeat. This usually happens due to changes of your blood's flow due to one of the illnesses that caused the pulsating tinnitus.
Headache
-
Constantly having these loud noises from pulsating tinnitus in your head may cause you to have severe, often debilitating, headaches.
Vertigo
-
Extreme feelings of dizziness (vertigo) accompanied by feelings of nausea may also be a complaint of someone with pulsating tinnitus.
Insomnia
-
Depending on the severity of the pulsating tinnitus, some of the sufferers may have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep.
Depression
-
According to a Baylor College of Medicine study, many people with this form of tinnitus may only experience depression if they are suffering from a more severe or debilitating type of pulsating tinnitus.
Hearing Loss
-
As with all of the different types of tinnitus, pulsating tinnitus may be followed by hearing loss. In some cases hearing losses can also be the cause of the tinnitus, making tinnitus its symptom as well as its cause.
