Ear Infection Cure

The medical term for an ear infection is Otitis media. It is most commonly seen in children, but can also affect adults. It occurs when the middle part of the ear becomes inflamed and infected due to a virus or bacteria. Ear infections can be cured with the proper treatment. It is important to take care of an ear infection right away because some untreated ear infections can lead to permanent hearing loss.
  1. Colloidal Silver

    • Colloidal Silver is one of nature's all-natural antibiotics. It can be used safely at home on both children and adults. You can purchase it in a liquid form to use as ear drops. You can take it by mouth as well, but this method works best for ear infections. Tilt your head to the side and insert two to three drops in the infected ear. Wait five minutes before sitting up again. You may want to have a cotton ball or paper towel handy because some of the drops may ooze back out. Do this twice each day for a total of 10 days. Your ear infection should be completely healed by then.

    Antibiotics

    • One of the most common cures for an ear infection is antibiotics. Antibiotics work to kill any bacteria that may be causing the infection in your ear. They can also get rid of the fluid that is hanging out in your ear. You must see your doctor to get a prescription for an antibiotic and then follow the doctor's instructions completely. It is important that you finish all of the antibiotics to be completely cured, even if you start to feel better; otherwise, the infection could come back. While you are on antibiotics it is recommended that you eat at least one yogurt per day, or take some probiotics. This is because the antibiotic will kill both the good and bad bacteria. You need to replace the good bacteria with the yogurt or probiotics.

    Ear Tubes

    • If you or your child experiences chronic ear infections, a myringotomy will be set up. This is an operation to insert ear tubes into the eardrum. This allows the fluid to drain out instead of build up in the middle ear. It also equalizes the air pressure in your environment so that the pressure is the same inside and outside the middle ear. The ear tubes are an excellent cure for ear infections. The surgery itself can be done on an outpatient basis and only lasts about 20 minutes. The tubes will come out on their own within six months to three years.
