Best Ways to Get Water Out of a Plugged Ear
Swimming and taking a lot of showers can lead to your ear being plugged with water. This is also referred to as a clogged ear. Having water in your ear can make sounds fuzzy and far away. Although having water in your ear for a short term won't hurt you, it can lead to an infection if left in for too long. You will want to get the water out of your ears as soon as possible.-
Solution #1
-
Place 1/4 cup of warm water in bowl. Add 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide, and mix the two together. Get an ear syringe, and fill it with the solution. Tilt your head to the side so that the clogged ear is facing up. Squeeze the solution in your ear, and leave it in there for five minutes. When you lift your head up, you will want to hold a towel or some paper towels up to your ear to absorb the liquid that comes out. You can repeat this a second time if you still feel clogged.
Solution #2
-
This method will work over the course of a few days. In a cup, mix together 3 tbsp. of mineral oil, 3 tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide and 3 tbsp. of vinegar. Get an eyedropper, and place five drops of this solution in your affected ear. Do this three times per day until your ear is unplugged. The peroxide drys up the water, the vinegar prevents infection and the mineral oil helps eliminate any wax that might be contributing to the problem.
Solution #3
-
This is the easiest solution you will find, but it works. Use an eyedropper to drop seven drops of rubbing alcohol in your clogged ear. Make sure that the ear is facing up when you do it so that the alcohol doesn't spill back out. The alcohol drys up the water. It is the main ingredient in over-the-counter medications. Keep your head to the side for at least three minutes. While you are waiting, pull on your earlobe, which will open up your ear canal to let the drops get in farther. When you are ready to sit up, have a towel to catch the liquid. You can do this a few times, but it should work the first time you do it.
