How to Remove Wet Wax From Infected Ears

When your ears are infected, it can be difficult and painful to remove any excess wax from them. But that is exactly what you should do to relieve any pressure in your ear. "Wet" wax can be especially hard to extract.

  Pull 1 square inch piece from a cotton ball.

  Use a cotton swab to hold the patch of cotton. The loose cotton should be twisted onto the stick so that it stays on firmly. Keep twisting it to keep the cotton as smooth as possible. This will make it less likely that small particles will be left behind in the ear canal.

  Use one hand to hold the ear steady. Slowly put the tip into the ear until you reach the wax. After reaching the wax, proceed no further into the ear. Pushing past the wax can force it further into the ear. If the ear begins to hurt, you are probably pushing too hard with the stick.

  Clean out the infected ears with a few slow twisting motions with the stick. Once you have wet wax that has covered the end of the cotton, you might want to repeat the actions with a clean piece of cotton if you believe there might be some wax left in the ear.
