  Wear hearing protection when in trouble areas. People sometimes work in areas where there is constantly a lot of noise going on. Some employers offer hearing protection and require you to wear it, and if you don't--you will be reprimanded. It is recommended that you wear hearing protection whenever applicable to avoid hearing damage or hearing loss. Also, you shouldn't listen to music at a high volume because over time, this can cause damage to your hearing and possible hearing loss.

  Get a routine hearing exam. Getting a routine hearing exam is convenient if you want to find out how good your hearing is and if you have experienced hearing loss. If you are experiencing any hearing loss, the hearing test may pick up on this and your doctor may be able to have surgery performed to minutely enhance your hearing or recommend a hearing aid to help with hearing loss. To keep better track of your hearing health, it is recommended that you receive a hearing test every 1 to 2 years (or as recommended by your doctor regarding your particular hearing health).

  Do not put foreign items in your ears. The tiny parts in your ears that are responsible for your hearing are very fragile. Putting any foreign objects in your ears can damage these parts resulting in hearing damage or loss. When using ear plugs to sleep at night, it is advised to use only ear plugs with some sort of string on them in case they slip into your ears while you are sleeping. If you use earplugs without strings or any other type of unapproved items in your ears, they can become lodged in your ear canal and may require surgical removal.
