How to Change a Bulb in an Otoscope

- Forceps
- Needle nose pliers
- Replacement bulb

Remove the head of the otoscope. Most otoscopes will unscrew from the handle. Place the handle to the side.

Remove the bulb from the underside of the head of the otoscope using forceps or needle nose pliers to hold and pull out the bulb.

Insert the replacement bulb, the size of which will vary depending on the make and model of your otoscope. Be sure you have the proper bulb and push it into place as far as it will go. If the bulb is not fully inserted, the otoscope will not light.

Reattach the handle to the otoscope and turn it on to make sure the bulb lights and is operating correctly.
