Instructions

    • 1

Put a drop of hydrogen peroxide in the ear if wax is clogging the outer ear canal. The wax will drain out of the ear as it bubbles with the hydrogen peroxide. If you don't have any hydrogen peroxide, boil a small amount of olive oil and apply a few drops into the ear, then carefully clean the ear out with a cotton swab.

    • 2

Yawn frequently to help equalize pressure between the outside and inside of your ears. Changing altitudes can cause changes in pressure and cause discomfort in the ears. Chewing bubble gum may also help relieve pressure.

    • 3

Open your mouth while blowing your nose to prevent forcing more fluid into your ears. Blow your nose softly, especially if you have sinus problems. Yawning or swallowing frequently may also help drain fluid from the ears.

    • 4

Take an antihistamine to help drain fluid from the inner ear. Follow all directions printed on the medicine's container.

    • 5

Place a few drops of pure grain alcohol in the clogged ear(s).

    • 6

Take a hot and steamy shower lasting about 10 or 15 minutes. Steam may also help loosen fluid or wax in the ear.
