How to Clear Ear Popping
Ears pop when air gets trapped inside the ear, making the pressure inside the ear greater than the pressure outside. This can happen when climbing into a high altitude or from a cold or sinus infection, but one of the most common causes is when flying in a place that ascends or descends quickly. It is usually not serious, but it can be irritating. Luckily, there are easy ways to rid yourself of this uncomfortable problem.Instructions

1
Ask you doctor for a prescription for a decongestant or nasal spray. Use this before you fly and then again on the flight if it is of long duration.

2
Yawn by opening your mouth as large as you can and force yourself to yawn. It also helps if you stay awake when traveling because you can neither breathe deeply nor swallow this way while asleep.

3
Gather air in your mouth by taking a deep breath and swallow in a hard and exaggerated manner. Do this exercise three or four times in quick succession.

4
Try gently blowing your nose, but never pinch your nose together and blow because you could damage your eardrum. Chew gum in an exaggerated manner.
