What are the bones make up outside part of your ear?
The outer ear is composed of the *pinna* and *external auditory canal*.* The pinna which has a complex shape and is supported by a framework of elastic cartilage.
*The external auditory canal is a tube-like structure that runs from the pinna to the tympanic membrane. It is lined with skin that contains sweat glands, ceruminous glands, and hair follicles.
Bones of the outer ear include:
- The mandible: The mandible is the lower jawbone. It is the only movable bone in the skull and connects to the temporal bone at the temporomandibular joint.
- The temporal bone: The temporal bone is located on the side of the skull. It contains the middle ear and inner ear, and it also helps to form the jaw joint.
- The zygomatic bone: The zygomatic bone is located on the cheek. It helps to form the eye socket and the cheekbone.
- The frontal bone: The frontal bone is located on the forehead. It helps to form the eye socket and the skull.
