What is the nose system?

1). External nose:

-Consists of the bony and cartilaginous framework that forms the external shape of the nose.

- Nasal bones support the bridge; lateral cartilages form the sides and tip.

-Skin and subcutaneous tissue cover the framework.

2). Internal nose (nasal cavities):

- Paired cavities located behind the external nose and separated from each other by the nasal septum.

- Open anteriorly through the nostrils and posteriorly into the nasopharynx.

3). Paranasal sinuses:

- Air-filled cavities located within the facial bones around the nasal cavity.

- Communicate with the nasal cavity and help warm, moisten, and filter inspired air.

- The nasal system is richly supplied by blood vessels and nerves, allowing for a keen sense of smell and nasal airflow regulation.
