Where is sound interpreted?

Sound is interpreted in the auditory cortex of the temporal lobes of the brain. The auditory cortex is responsible for processing auditory information, including the perception of sound, the recognition of speech, and the localization of sound sources. The auditory cortex receives input from the auditory thalamus, which in turn receives input from the cochlea of the inner ear. The auditory cortex then processes this information and sends output to other parts of the brain, such as the motor cortex and the limbic system, to produce a variety of responses, such as movement and emotion.
