Why does your ear hurt to touch?

The ear has a rich supply of nerves, which makes it sensitive to touch. In addition, the ear canal is lined with hairs and wax, which can further increase the sensitivity of the ear. When something touches the ear, it can stimulate these nerves, causing pain.

In some cases, the ear can hurt to touch because of an underlying medical condition, such as an ear infection, earwax impaction, or a tumor. If the pain is severe or persistent, it is recommended to see a doctor to rule out any medical causes.
