What is found in the middle ear?
The middle ear is a small, air-filled cavity located on each side of the head. It is connected to the outer ear by the ear canal and to the inner ear by the oval window. The middle ear contains three small bones, called the malleus, incus, and stapes. These bones are connected to each other and to the eardrum. When sound waves enter the ear canal, they cause the eardrum to vibrate. This vibration is then transmitted to the bones of the middle ear, which amplify the sound and transmit it to the inner ear.
