What are the parts of your nose?
The external nose
* Nasal bone: The nasal bone forms the bridge of the nose.
* Nasal septum: The nasal septum is a cartilage that separates the nasal cavity into two halves.
* Lateral nasal cartilages: The lateral nasal cartilages are located on the sides of the nose and help to support the shape of the nose.
* Nostril: The nostrils are the openings of the nasal cavity.
* Ala: The alae are the fleshy parts of the nose that surround the nostrils.
The internal nose
* Nasal cavity: The nasal cavity is the hollow space inside the nose.
* Turbinates: The turbinates are bony projections that line the nasal cavity and help to warm and humidify the air that we breathe.
* Nasopharynx: The nasopharynx is the part of the nasal cavity that connects to the throat.
Additional structures
* Olfactory bulb: The olfactory bulb is a small structure located at the top of the nasal cavity that is responsible for our sense of smell.
* Trigeminal nerve: The trigeminal nerve is a nerve that supplies sensation to the face, including the nose.
