Vertigo in Kids
Vertigo is a type of dizziness, a feeling that you are moving despite the fact that you are motionless. Because of its subjective quality, it is sometimes difficult to diagnose vertigo in kids.-
Causes
-
Vertigo itself is not a disease, but it is a common side effect of other conditions. Epileptic children often have vertigo, and it may also be a side effect of multiple sclerosis or even certain types of drugs.
Identification
-
Identifying vertigo in children may be difficult because they cannot always describe what is happening. Children who are suffering from an attack of vertigo sometimes faint, suffer migraines or have a seizure that does not lead to a loss of consciousness.
Treatment
-
Treatment for vertigo in children often involves trying to treat the cause instead of the vertigo itself. According to the British Medical Journal, anti-epileptic medicine, such as the electroencephalogram, has been shown to help with treating vertigo in kids.
