Garlic Remedies for Ringing in the Ear

The medical term for ringing in the ears is tinnitus, and it has many causes, including ear drum ruptures, ear wax build-up, loud noises, diet and allergies. There are also several remedies, including physician prescribed medication and various home remedies. Garlic is thought to be an effective cure, with its known antiseptic, antibiotic and immune-boosting qualities.
  1. Garlic Oil

    • Combine sox cloves of garlic with a cup of almond oil, or extra virgin olive oil. Strain the mixture and refrigerate in a covered container. When you're ready to use it, take a small amount out of the fridge, put it in an eye-dropper bottle and let it warm to room temperature.

Before going to bed, put three drops of the oil in each ear, and then put cotton balls in your ears. Remove the cotton balls when you wake up. This should clear up the tinnitus in about two weeks or less. If it does not work, you should look at other remedies.

    Garlic Juice

    • A simpler method is to extract garlic juice, by putting raw cloves of garlic into a garlic press, or blending raw garlic and straining the juice through fine mesh. Place a few drops in both ears every night before bed, and follow the same procedure as with the garlic oil above.

    Eating Raw Garlic

    • Including raw garlic and sea vegetables is suggested for those with tinnitus. If your regular diet could be to blame for the tinnitus, you can also try removing commonly inflammatory foods, such as those containing gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol and caffeine.
