How to Insert A Starkey Hearing Aid

Before the aid is actually placed inside the ear, check to make sure that the hearing aid itself is undamaged and in one piece. Also, be sure to have the volume set to the lowest possible setting so that no loud noises or interference occurs when the aid is inserted. If the hearing aid that is being inserted is a behind-the-ear model, place the part of the hearing aid that needs to go behind the ear snugly between the ear and the side of the head.

The hearing aid should be grasped between the thumb and index finger so as not to damage it during insertion.

Be sure that the gain (volume control) is face up, and then slide the hearing aid into the ear very gently. If at any point it begins to feel uncomfortable or painful in the ear, withdraw it slowly and start over. Once the hearing aid is safely inserted in the ear, adjust it so that it feels comfortable.

Lastly, turn the hearing aid on, and adjust the volume to a reasonable loudness. Make sure that everything is working as it should be. If not, restart from step one.
