How to Prevent Ear Wax Buildup

The outer ear canal is lined with glands and hair follicles that produce a wax meant to catch debris and protect the inner ear. Most of this wax will work its way to the outer ear, where it can be washed away. In some cases, a person produces so much wax that it hardens and causes blockage and greater difficulty hearing. In cases of extreme blockage, wax removal must be handled by an otolaryngologist, who can utilize special instruments. But implementing an extra step in your weekly routine can keep both the doctor and the extra wax away.
