Block System for Treating Ear & Respiratory Infections
The Block system for treating ear and respiratory infections refers to the medical advice of Dr. Mary Ann Block, the Medical Director at The Block Center near Dallas, Texas. Block specializes in Osteopathic medicine, a form of medical care that focuses on using the body's natural defences to ward off infection. Among Block's system of care is a treatment system for ear and respiratory infections. To treat ear and respiratory infections, Block provides a number of effective treatments that can be done in the home.-
Lymph Nodes and Antibody Storgage
-
Become familiar with some of the anatomical locations of the body's lymph nodes. When the body senses an ear or respiratory infection, the lymph nodes begin to accumulate lymph fluid, which contains the antibodies that fight off infection. During an ear or respiratory infection, the lymph nodes begin to swell. Massage of the lymph nodes can ease swelling and assist the release of antibodies.
Massage the Head
-
Massage the head to encourage lymph fluid to drain. Begin by pressing your thumbs gently but firmly against the middle of the forehead. Slowly drag your thumbs out toward the temples, then drag your thumbs down between the ears and the cheeks. If the lymph nodes are swollen, there will be a detectable swelling between the ears and cheeks. If swelling is present, repeat this process 3 to 5 times.
Massage the Neck
-
Massage the the neck to encourgae lymph fluid to drain. Place your thumbs gently but firmly and directly under the chin. Drag your thumbs out as far as the border of the jaw, then straight down towards the chest. Several lymph nodes may be found under the jaw and down both sides of the neck. If swelling is present, repeat this process 3 to 5 times.
Massage the Thoracic Area
-
Stretch the right arm upward, and use the palm of your hand to gently push against the right rib cage, just enough that the muscles between the ribs are stretched. Repeat 1 to 2 times. Repeat on the left side of the body. Lymph nodes are located just beneath the armpit. Massaging the thoracic area will help the lymph nodes of the lungs drain during a respiratory infection.
Build a Strong Immune System
-
Allow the body to use it's natural defenses to ward off ear and respiratory infections. According to the Block system, antibiotics hinder the body's natural defenses. Antibiotics act as a substitute for the body's natural defenses, not allowing the immune system to grow and develop. In order to build a strong immune system, the body has to be allowed to work against infection.
Good Nutrition
-
Purchase natural and organic foods whenever possible. Foods that are neither natural, nor organic, are often made up of preservatives, artificial colors and flavorings and may contain antibiotics and hormones. In many cases, these foods do not provide the sufficient vitamins and minerals needed to overcome ear and respiratory infection.
