1
Apply to work for a dispenser. Look for an office that is willing to hire unlicensed assistants. You can also try to work for a hearing aid company, although this may be more difficult.
-
2
Obtain sponsorship from a licensed dispenser. Becoming a hearing aid dispenser requires upfront training before you can proceed further. If you've achieved step one, you can skip this step. If you are not able to obtain employment at a dispenser's office or with a hearing aid company, apprenticing is your only option.

3
Acquire a signature from the company, office or individual who sponsored your training, stating that you completed your training successfully as required by the state. This must be done before you will be allowed to take your state's licensing exam.
-
4
Pass your state's examination. Contact a licensing board to find out the particulars, such as the date, location and times of upcoming tests, fees that must be paid before taking the exam, and any other requirements set out by the state board.
