Home diagnoses shouldn’t substitute an exam by a licensed physician. If you suspect an ear infection, consult your physician prior to using any alternative treatment.
  1. Purpose

    • Hydrogen peroxide, according to Dr. David G. Williams, has been used successfully to treat fungal and yeast Infections. Peroxide dries out your ear canal making it harder for an infection to stay active.

    Identification

    • Symptoms of an ear canal infection include ear ache, diminished hearing, a foul odor coming from your ear and foul smelling discharge inside your ear.

    Confirmation

    • If you suspect an outer ear infection, place two to three drops of peroxide in your ear. If the peroxide bubbles and foams significantly, you probably have an ear infection.

    Treatment

    • Use two to three drops of peroxide three times a day, for one week. If your symptoms are getting worse during the week, consult your physician.

    Prevention/Solution

    • After infection symptoms have cleared, use two to three drops of peroxide once a day, for one week. Peroxide helps clean out the left-over infection debris in your ear canal.
