1
Schedule an audiological exam, or audiogram, with an audiologist if you're having difficulties with your hearing. This evaluation involves a hearing check by the audiologist, who specializes in nonmedical rehabilitation of hearing loss. The audiologist will refer you to a physician if you're a potential candidate for a hearing aid.

2
Visit the physician that you've been referred to by the audiologist. Examinations should be done on your ears, nose and throat to be sure that your hearing problems are based within the ear, rather than being caused by a sinus condition or something more serious, such as a tumor.
-
3
Get your hearing aids from a licensed hearing professional. Your medical insurance (assuming you have it) may provide some coverage for them; contact your insurance company to find out. Medicare doesn't cover hearing aids.
