How to Keep Gauges From Hurting
In order to keep your ear gauges from hurting, you must be patient when switching up to the next size. If your gauge is bothering you, then you should not move up to a larger size. You should probably move down to a smaller, more comfortable size and then slowly work your way back up to the next gauge size. If you are ready to move up to the next size, then gradually moving toward that size is the best option.Things You'll Need
- Warm water
- Tapers of various sizes
- Liquid soap
- 3 tablespoons of salt

1
Take your current gauge out of your ear and soak your earlobe in warm water to increase the blood circulation and relax muscle tissue. You could even massage your ear lobe to further increase circulation.
-
2
Coat the next sized ear taper with liquid soap. Make sure the taper is evenly lubricated, as well as your ear lobe.
-
3
Slowly insert the taper into your earlobe hole. Push gently until the taper is securely in your earlobe. If your ear starts to hurt, do not push the taper in any further.
-
4
Over time, slowly push your taper more into your lobe, gently increasing your lobe size. But again, do not push it in any further if your ear begins to hurt.
-
5
Dissolve 3 tablespoons of salt into 3 cups of warm water. Dip your earlobe into the water. This cleans your lobe, helps prevent infection, and increases blood circulation.
